Consilium Spotlight – Heidi Whitaker

Our third Consilium spotlight falls upon Heidi Whitaker, who is a Partner at Burnham Law based out of their Fort Collins, Colorado office. Her practice is now enhanced by her training as a certified Consilium practitioner which she will incorporate into her work moving forward.

Reflecting on her training, she said “Someone once said that ‘it takes a village [to raise a family]’, and this is quite true when reconstructing a family as well. The Consilium paradigm helps provide additional support so our clients not only get through the matter at hand, but thrive on the other side.” Heidi helps her clients not only to survive their current legal challenges, but to thrive within their new family structures.

Heidi went on to say that: “As a family law practitioner, and a divorced mother myself, my goal has always been to leave my clients in a better place by the end of the matter. Using the Consilium framework will provide both my clients and me with structure to identify and meet their needs–both in the legal arena and in non-legal realms. Building a network of supporting professionals, including therapists and financial advisors, allows me to match my clients with appropriate resources.”

Heidi litigates domestic relations cases and is often called upon for complex or high conflict dissolutions and post-decree matters. Having graduated from the University of Arizona with business administration degrees in Accounting and Management Information Systems and earned her J.D. from Texas Wesleyan School of Law (now Texas A&M School of Law), she blends her background in business with her legal knowledge and compassion for the difficult circumstances facing her clients. Heidi subscribes to the theory that the only constant in life is change, and she applies that perspective as she helps her clients evolve into their next best lives.

Heidi has served as the President of the Larimer County Women’s Bar, and the Secretary and Treasurer of the Larimer County Bar Association. She is currently serving as the Vice President of the Larimer County Bar Association, and the chairperson for Larimer County’s National Adoption Day celebration.

When not working, Heidi enjoys playing American style Mahjong, working on her yard or raised garden beds, and taking in live theater.

It gives us enormous pleasure to welcome Heidi Whitaker as a Consilium® certified practitioner!
